The fierce Lord Raykin and his loyal magician Eriuk are captured in an attempt to take the castle of King William the Fourth again. They can escape and Eriuk enchants the king's castle so that Lord Raykin would succeed in taking the castle the next time he tries.

600 years later, the 17-year-old medieval fan Peter watches a medieval-themed advertisement for a cola company. When his mother comes home, several bottles of Coke fall down. Peter helps her to pick it up, but doesn't notice that one of the bottles has rolled down the hall to the apartment door opposite. The apartment owner, Mr. Percy, finds the bottle and takes it into the apartment. There he opens it and sees the inscription "You're a winner!" In the lid. But he screws it back on.

Later Peter helps him to carry a package into the apartment. There it turns out to be a painting showing the battle of Lord Raykin against the king's son, Prince Alfred. Mr. Percy gives Peter the coke bottle he found in which he found the winner's label. Peter is overjoyed.

The next day, he is met in a van by a man dressed in medieval clothes. Tommy, the offspring of a wealthy entrepreneur, and Claudia, his girlfriend, are already in the van. The somewhat idiotic Ben joins them, then it goes to the castle, where the battle between Prince Alfred and Lord Raykin really took place. There they are expected by the lord of the castle. He leads them into their bedroom and explains that the next day has an RPG in store for them. Peter chooses the knight because the prince could never do anything himself. Tommy then wants to play the role of the prince. Claudia chooses Sophia, Prince Alfred's wife. By a stupid coincidence, Ben is assigned the role of court jester.

A terrible storm approaches during the night. Peter is woken up the next morning by Mrs. Sweeney, the woman who is responsible for recording the entire adventure. In the throne room he realizes that the castle is deserted. In addition, the power went out. Peter can only find the lord's battery-powered computer that leads him into the control room. There he discovers that they somehow landed on November 11, 1383. The others think it's part of the game, but Peter is not so sure. Switching on the castle's own generators, which are set up in the dungeon, also fails. Little by little they find out that they really landed in 1383. The curse of the wizard Eriuk has had an effect. He transported the entire castle back to the Middle Ages. Lord Raykin got his chance to take the castle after all.

During his visit to the castle he takes Tommy, who he mistakenly believes to be Prince Alfred, prisoner. He also reveals to them that he has captured the real lord of the castle. With the help of the prison guard, they find Eriuk's teacher, Parcival, in a secret chamber of the dungeon. During his betrayal, Eriuk took all magical powers from him, which he has now back. Parcival explains to him that Lord Raykin has to tear his coat of arms off the wall of the castle and keep this and Prince Alfred away from the castle until dawn, then he has won, and the friends remain forever trapped in the Middle Ages. They try to stop Lord Raykin from removing the coat of arms, but the dragon sleeping next to the gate prevents them. But Peter can persuade him to help them. He puts the guards to flight in front of Lord Raykin's own residence. There Peter and Lord Raykin have a fight. Claudia, who has meanwhile exchanged her dress for armor, helps him. You manage to get Tommy and the crest back before sunrise. Ben, who has meanwhile discovered magic for himself, breaks the curse, and they all find themselves again in the future. Claudia and Peter kiss and you can see Peter watching this scene in the Coke company's commercial at home. Then he goes to the dining table where his mother, Mr. Percy and Claudia are sitting.
