Michael Patrick Thornton (* in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor and theater director .
Life
Michael Patrick Thornton was born in the Chicago neighborhood of Jefferson Park and attended The School of Steppenwolf . In 2001 Thornton founded The Gift Theater Company with Will Nedved . At this theater he is the director in the field of arts. He is also a teacher in schools.
Thornton became popular on television through the role of Dr. Gabriel Fife is known in the television series Private Practice . There he played a doctor for 14 episodes who ended up having a relationship with the series character from Audra McDonald . He has also appeared in Biggest Friends and The Chicago Code .
