Ernst Franz von Platen-Hallermund

Ernst Franz Reichsgraf von Platen-Hallermund (born November 7, 1739 in Linden near Hanover; † February 17, 1818 in Hanover ) was a privy councilor of the Electorate of the Palatinate and heir - general postmaster of Linden from Brunswick and Lüneburg , and also conducted astronomical studies.

Life

He was the son of Georg Ludwig von Platen-Hallermund and his second wife Sabina Hedwig von Steuben .

As an astronomer, he published numerous articles in Bode's "Astrononomic Yearbook" between 1789 and 1793. He wrote on methods of determining planetary mass and several other more exotic subjects. That this was not his only interest is shown in the article “Experiences about the objects that remain in the eye”, published in 1795 in “Schriften der Gesellschaft naturf. Friends in Berlin ”.

Count Ernst Franz von Platen-Hallermund was married to Freiin Friederike Luise von Münster (born February 9, 1757, † November 16, 1841). The couple had the following children:
