Michael Kreissl

Michael Kreißl (born November 13, 1958 - † November 7, 2004 ) was an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). He was Vienna City Council, FPÖ state party secretary and Floridsdorf FPÖ district party chairman.

Kreißl became known as the chairman of the FP-affiliated working group of independents and freedom people (AUF). As a union official , he was particularly involved in the concerns of the executive officials. For many years, Kreißl was a close confidante of the former FPÖ leader Hilmar Kabas in Vienna .

Kreißl hit the headlines because of the so-called spy affair surrounding Josef Kleindienst . In September 2002, Kreißl was sentenced to six months for divulging official secrets . He is said to have told a police officer and trade unionist the date for a major drug raid - the so-called " Operation Spring ". The higher regional court, however, overturned the judgment, the process was reopened and Kreißl acquitted in February 2004.
