Marie-Cathérine Arnold (born November 7, 1991 in Ahlten ) is a German rower .

Career

Arnold started rowing in 1999. In the Junior World Championships in 2008 she won together with Julia Lier , Maren Stallkamp and Ulrike Törpsch the title in the quadruple sculls , 2009, she won along with Julia Lier in the double sculls . After she only took part in the U23 World Championships in 2010 as a substitute rower, she won in 2011 together with Ulrike Tbodsch, Lisa Schmidla and Julia Lier in the quad sculls. In the following year she took second place behind the Australians in the double fours together with Ulrike Tbodsch, Judith Sievers and Mareike Adams , in 2013 she received the bronze medal behind the Romanians and the Poles together with Luisa Neerschulte, Anne Marie Kroll and Carina Böhlert.

In 2014 Arnold started in the adult class for the first time. At the European Championships in Belgrade , Marie-Cathérine Arnold, Julia Lier, Julia Richter and Mareike Adams won the silver medal behind the Belarusian double four. Arnold was the substitute rower at the 2014 World Championships. In 2015 she won the European Championships in Poznan together with Annekatrin Thiele , Carina Bär and Lisa Schmidla , and at the World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette , the German rowers received the silver medal behind the US double scull. At the start of the 2016 Olympic season, Arnold became German champion in single at the German Small Boat Championships in Cologne. Thiele, Bär, Arnold and Schmidla defended their title at the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel . Arnold started in the 2016 Summer Olympics with Mareike Adams in a double scull and finished in seventh place. In the following year she was unable to train as planned due to illness. At the European and World Championships she was then only a substitute woman.

In 2018 she formed a new four-four with Carlotta Nwajide , Franziska Kampmann and Frieda Hämmerling . This crew won the silver medal behind the Polish women at the World Championships in Plovdiv . At the beginning of 2019, she did too badly in the qualifying regattas due to shoulder problems to be nominated for the European Championships in Lucerne . That is why Arnold resorted to an earlier offer from the DRV and also began to train with the strap team. In 2019, she had to take a break for several months because of a shoulder operation. In December she competed again in the long distance test of the DRV.

The 1.74 m tall Arnold rowed for the Hanoverian Rowing Club from 1880 . She studies marine geoscience at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .
