Gitte Aaen (born November 7, 1981 in Frederikshavn , Denmark ) is a Danish handball player .
Career
Aaen started playing handball at the age of five. The winger played before 2006 Viborg HK changed in Strandby / Elling IF, FFI, Sindal IF and Fox team North . Aaen won the championship with Viborg in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and the cup in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2009 and 2010 she triumphed with Viborg in the EHF Champions League . For the 2010/11 season she wanted to move to the top Austrian club Hypo Niederösterreich . However, the contract did not materialize. She then switched to the Danish first division club FC Midtjylland as an amateur . In October 2010, Aaen joined Randers HK . After winning the championship in 2012, Aaen ended her career as a professional handball player. Since then she has been working as a nurse in Viborg and playing for the lower-class handball club Søndermarken IK.
Aaen has played 38 international matches for the Danish women's handball team , in which she scored 101 goals. With Denmark she finished eleventh at the European Championships in Macedonia in 2008 .
