Wolfgang Arenhövel

Wolfgang Arenhövel (born  November 7, 1946 in Ibbenbüren ) is a German lawyer . He was President of the Higher Regional Court (OLG) Bremen and acting judge at the State Court of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and Federal Chairman of the German Association of Judges .

Arenhövel studied in Marburg and Regensburg law .

Professional background

He began his career in 1978 in the judicial service of Lower Saxony . Since 1981 he has been a judge at the Osnabrück Regional Court and from 1991 a judge at the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court . From 1997 to 1999 he was President of the Verden Regional Court, and from 1999 President of the Osnabrück Regional Court.

From 2003 to April 2007 Arenhövel was also chairman of the German Association of Judges. He replaced Geert Mackenroth .

From 2005 to 2011 he was President of the Higher Regional Court (OLG) Bremen and acting judge at the State Court of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .

Other activities, offices and memberships

Arenhövel is a member of the SPD .
