Reissiger created an extensive work of compositions, including the oratorio David (1852), nine Latin and four German masses and 60 songs. His large masses (10 to 12 in number), composed for the Catholic Court Church , are characterized by rich melodies and warm feelings. The same is true for his hymns, motets and songs, which have appeared in many collections, as well as for the oratorio David . He also published orchestral and chamber music of all kinds. Reissiger's most successful works include his operas. The rock mill is lost today, only the overture is preserved.

Operas

In addition to his own works, he was also known for the premiere of Wagner's Rienzi in 1842 at the Royal Court Theater . One of his students was Hermann Berens .
