Lebrecht von Anhalt-Köthen (born April 8, 1622 in Plötzkau ; † November 7, 1669 in Köthen ) from the Askanians was Prince of Anhalt-Plötzkau and since 1665 Prince of Anhalt-Köthen .

Life

Lebrecht was the second son of Prince August von Anhalt-Plötzkau (1575-1653) from his marriage to Sibylle (1590-1659), daughter of Count Johann Georg zu Solms-Laubach . Lebrecht completed his training with a long tour of gentlemen and then gained the favor of the Great Elector .

He followed his father together with his two brothers Ernst Gottlieb and Emanuel in 1653 in the government of Anhalt-Plötzkau. After the death of Prince Wilhelm Ludwig von Anhalt-Köthen , he became Prince of Anhalt-Köthen in 1665, which he ruled together with his brother Emanuel. Plötzkau was returned to Anhalt-Bernburg . The brothers ruled in harmony, with Lebrecht being particularly pious and benevolent; he had a hospital built in Koethen with an associated churchyard.

Under the company name Der Angenehme he became a member of the literary fruitful society .

Lebrecht married Sophie Eleonore (1628–1675), daughter of Count Heinrich Volrad zu Stolberg-Wernigerode , on January 18, 1655 in Plötzkau . The marriage remained childless. His brother Emanuel followed him as Prince of Anhalt-Koethen. Lebrecht was buried in the royal crypt of the St. Jakobskirche in Köthen .
