Matias Tosi-Socolov

Matias Tosi-Socolov (born November 7, 1980 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

Matias Tosi-Socolov began his career as a professional dancer in Buenos Aires, completed an acting course and studied singing.

He got his first engagement at the age of 17 at the Teatro Nacional Cervantes . At the age of just 18 he became a member of the opera studio at the renowned Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires Capital. There he gave the "Ferrando" ( Il trovatore ), the "Police chief" ( Amelia goes to the ball ) and "Antonio" ( Le nozze di Figaro ). In the summer of 2000 he came to Germany to continue his vocal studies at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Wolfgang Brendel and Hans Sotin . He also took private lessons with Saverio Suárez-Ribaudo .

At the age of 23 he made the leap to European stages. He performed as "Escamillo", "Mefisto", "Jago" and "Dulcamara" at the Regensburg Theater . Guest engagements followed, including as Crespel in Hoffmanns Erzählungen ( Chiemsee Festival ), as “Chancellor” in The Princess on the Pea (Young Opera Stuttgart) and as Alfonso in Così fan tutte (Munich University of Music and Theater). In the 2004/2005 season he went to the Stuttgart State Opera . There he made his debut as a mandarin in Turandot .

Matias Tosi-Socolov appeared as Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Heidenheim an der Brenz Opera Festival (2005) and was named Discovery of the Year in the magazine Das Opernglas . In the 2005/2006 season, he appeared in "Doktor Faust" at the State Theater Stuttgart, at the same time he excelled as "Don Giovanni", the title role of the opera by Mozart, at the Municipal Theater in Regensburg and as Papageno in The Magic Flute at the Heidenheim Opera Festival (2006).

Since the 2007/2008 season he has been a member of the Stuttgart State Opera ensemble . In the 2008 season he will appear at the Bregenz Festival in the new production of Puccini's Tosca as Cesare Angelotti .

Further guest tours have taken the singer to Essen, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
