Chris Adrian

Chris Adrian (born November 7, 1970 in Washington, DC ) is an American pediatrician and author .

Life

Adrian studied English at the University of Florida , theology at Harvard and medicine until 2001 at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk (Virginia) . He attended an Iowa Writers' Workshop . In 2009 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship for Literature. The New Yorker magazine ranked him among the most important young American authors. His novel The Great Night , translated into German in 2012, is a modern adaptation of the Midsummer Night's Dream and works with the means of magical realism .

Adrian works as a pediatrician at the University of California in San Francisco .
