Artur Märchen (artist name), real name: Artur Ernst Erich Raake (born November 7, 1932 in Grünberg (Silesia) ; † March 1, 2002 in Berlin ) was a German artist, life artist , graphic artist , painter and poet from the group of Berliners Painter poets .

Life

Artur tales grew up in Berlin-Kreuzberg and struck out to be a sailor , carousel builders , pubs musicians, barrel organ builders , carpenters , watchmakers , shoemakers and with various odd jobs by. At the beginning of the 1960s, the landlady Rosi from Kreuzberg's Kiezkeipe Leierkasten gave him his nickname fairy tales , which he also used himself , because he was noticed as a narrator of unusual stories. Since 1964 he lived at Zossener Straße 52.

He was known and friends with many of the Berlin painter-poets Günter Bruno Fuchs , Günter Grass , Aldona Gustas , Roger Loewig , Christoph Meckel , Kurt Mühlenhaupt , Karl Oppermann , Oskar Pastior , Robert Wolfgang Schnell , Wolfdietrich Schnurre , Friedrich Schröder-Sonnenstern , Joachim Uhlmann , Nepomuk Ullmann and Hans-Joachim Zeidler . In 1962 he married Erika Hoffmann. After the divorce, he married Marika Carstens in 1965 (July 19, 1942 to May 21, 2018), who was also an artist as an illustrator of children's books. In 1966 the daughter Caterina was born. Artur Märchen's works are preferably found in small editions in hand press printing .

He found his final resting place in Cemetery II of the Jerusalem and New Churches at Hallesches Tor. On the occasion of the funeral on March 15, 2002, many of his artistic companions gave him their last escort.
