Hans-Joachim Zeidler (* 1935 in Berlin , Alt-Moabit ; † January 24, 2010 in Berlin) was a German painter and poet .

Life

Hans-Joachim Zeidler was bombed out in Berlin in 1942 and evacuated to Pomerania . In 1946 he returned to the ruins of Berlin and from 1947 went to high school. In 1950 he began to draw ruins intensively. He studied from 1951 to 1954 at the two master schools in Berlin and the University of Fine Arts with Wilhelm Tank . He then worked in 1955 as a scientific illustrator at the University of Tubingen and went into the 1957 Switzerland , where he had two exhibitions and in Lausanne four years as a commercial artist worked. It was there that he met his wife Ariane. In 1960 he returned to Berlin to live as a freelance painter.

In 1963 he and his wife went to Ibiza for a year . In the years that followed, both went on study trips to many countries. Between 1955 and 1984 he had 66 solo exhibitions in Germany , France , Switzerland and California , and he also participated in over 150 group exhibitions.

From 1968 he brought out five of his own books. Zeidler belonged to the group of Berlin painter-poets since 1972, together with Günter Grass , Wolfdietrich Schnurre , Kurt Mühlenhaupt and nine other dual talents . In 1985 his catalog of works included 1,800 oil and tempera pictures , watercolors and drawings , plus 220 illustrations and 126 lithographic editions with around 12,000 hand prints. From 1971 to 1974 he also chaired the Free Berlin Art Exhibition .

He committed suicide in January 2010.
