Claude Storez

Claude Tonin Horace Storez (born November 7, 1927 in Paris , † February 7, 1959 in Reims ) was a French racing driver .
Career
The versatile Claude Storez was active both as a rally and circuit racing driver in the 1950s . In 1957 he won the French rally championship in a Porsche and in 1958 he was the overall winner of the French Formula 2 championship.
He started his career in 1951; first successes came two years later when he finished fourth in the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race and fifth in the Tour de France for automobiles of that year . He contested these two races as a works driver for Deutsch & Bonnet ; his team mate in both cases was his compatriot Marc Gignoux . At the Tour de France he was able to achieve two more top positions. In 1954 he finished second with Herbert Linge in a Porsche 550 and in 1957 with Robert Buchet sixth in a Porsche 356 Carrera . In 1956 , as a team partner of Richard von Frankenberg, he won the class for sports cars with a displacement of up to 1.5 liters at the 12-hour race in Reims . He competed five times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans , but dropped out at all five starts for various reasons.
Claude Storez had a fatal accident in February 1959 at the Rallye des Routes du Nord . During a special stage on the Reims race track , he had a serious accident and died a little later in a hospital.
