Jean-Claude Vidilles (born October 26, 1928 in Levallois-Perret , † August 4, 1997 in Bordeaux ) was a French racing driver .

Career

Jean-Claude Vidilles was active as a racing driver from the early 1950s to the mid-1960s. He contested his first races in a Renault 4CV , with which he also took part in the 1952 Mille Miglia . After initial successes in 1952, in the following years he also competed with more powerful sports cars such as the Osca MT4 and the Aston Martin DB2 .

He became known as a works driver at Deutsch & Bonnet . In 1960 , pictures of the shoveling vidille went around the world when it tried for hours to shovel DB HBR4 stranded in the sandbank of the Mulsanne during the Le Mans 24-hour race . He made his debut at Le Mans in 1954 , where he was denied a place in the top field over the years.

Apart from Le Mans, he won the Paris Grand Prix in 1958 and, in the same year, the 3-hour race in Pau together with Hernando da Silva Ramos .

Vidilles had some operations in Monopostosport . In 1955 he competed in a Ferrari 500 at the Gran Premio di Siracusa ; a scheduled start in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1958 scoring Grand Prix of Morocco , however, did not materialize.
