Autopsy Torment is a Swedish death metal band from Halmstad , which was founded in 1989, disbanded in 1994 and has been active again since 1999.

history

The band was founded in 1989 and was initially a project by Thomas "David Lee Rot" Karlsson and the guitarist Patrik "Uncle" Andersson. In the same year the band released a first demo called Splattered . Then in 1991 the drummer Karl-Jan "Sexual Goat Licker" "Karl Vincent" Kristiansson and the guitarist Daniel "Scyphe" Nilssen joined the band. Together they recorded the demo Darkest Rituals , in which Henrik Paahle was involved as bassist. The following year, Nocturnal Blasphemy and The Seventh Soul of Hell , two more demos followed, before the band broke up in 1994, as singer Karlsson and drummer Kristiansson had already left the band to form Pagan Rites .

In 1999 guitarist Nilssen and bassist Jimi "The Demon" Fagerstig re-founded the band. Shortly afterwards Karlsson and Kristiansson joined them again. Singer Karlsson was not present at the performance for the reunification in Gothenburg , which is why Ustumallagam from Denial of God stood in for him. In 2000, the band recorded Orgy with the Dead , which was released on a seven-track record and CD with the bonus song Gory to the Brave . Both variants had a different presentation. In 2001 Thomas Hedlund joined the cast as a drummer. In 2003 the split release Premature with Devil Lee Rot was released via Time Before Time Records . The sound carrier was a CD-R and limited to 333 pieces. In the same year, the album Tormentorium was also released on Painkiller Records . In April 2005, the next album, Graveyard Creatures , was released on Die Todesrune Records . The band then consisted of Karlsson and Hedlund, guitarist David “Slaughter” Straderud and bassist Fagerstig. The compilation 7th Ritual for the Darkest Soul of Hell , which contained songs from the old demos, was released via Pulverized Records in 2008 .

style

According to musicmight.com , the band still plays grindcore on the splattered demo , while they turned to death metal on Darkest Rituals . Daniel Ekeroth noted the same development in his book Swedish Death Metal . The band's image is "blood, gore and upside-down crosses". Janne Stark described The Heaviest Encyclopedia of Swedish Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Ever! the band's music as simple old school Death Metal. Stefan Franke from voicesfromthedarkside.de described the music on Tormentorium as a mixture of black and death metal and drew comparisons to Nifelheim , old Bathory , as well as early Tiamat and Treblinka , without the band reaching their class.
