Jean Thépenier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jean Thépenier is a former French racing car driver and Maserati dealer.

Career

Jean Thépenier was a Maserati dealer in France and worked in close contact with the general importer Johnny Simone . Many Maserati models driven for the first time in France can be traced back to Thépenier and Simone's imports.

He was also friends with Aldo Gordini and André Simon . He competed in monoposto and sports car races for Aldo's father Amédée and his Gordini team in the early 1950s . With Simon he competed several times in the Tour de France for automobiles . Thépenier was primarily a sports car driver. Its use in vehicles with free-standing wheels, such as in the Gordini Type 15 at the Grand Prix de Cadours in 1952 and 1954 , remained largely unsuccessful.

In sports cars, he was third in the Coupes de Paris in 1954 and fifth in the Coupe d'Automne in the same year ; both times in the T15S .

Once he drove the 24-hour race at Le Mans , in 1956 he finished the race as a partner of Jean-Claude Vidilles in eleventh overall.
