Aldo Gordini (born May 20, 1921 in Bologna , † January 28, 1995 in Paris ) was a French racing car driver .
Career
Aldo Gordini was the son of Amédée Gordini , the founder of Gordini . Like his father, Aldo was born in Italy and moved with his family to France after the Second World War .
Aldo grew up in the field of automotive engineering and motorsport and it was no wonder that he himself found his way into international motor racing. Aldo was already working as a mechanic at Gordini when he started racing in 1946.
In 1950 Gordini drove the Type 11 in a few selected Formula 2 races and came third in Cadours and fifth in Aix-les-Baines . Together with Maurice Trintignant , he was also fifth in the Roubaix race that same year .
Aldo Gordini's last year in motorsport was the 1951 season. He drove his only Formula 1 Grand Prix in Reims . With the Type 15 , he retired early after a gearbox damage. Gordini also competed in Le Mans before retiring from motorsport. With problems with the fuel pump, he had to give up here too early.
