Shani Diluka (born November 7, 1976 in Monaco ) is a French pianist of Sri Lankan parents.

Life

At the age of six, Shani Diluka was discovered and selected by Princess Gracia Patricia of Monaco , on a sponsorship program of the Prince Rainiers III Academy . to participate. She gave her first solo appearances at the age of nine and only three years later she played in the first part of a concert by Hélène Grimaud at the Acropolis in Nice. In the same year she was advised by the conductor Lawrence Foster and encouraged to pursue her studies further.

Diluka, who grew up in Monaco and is equally familiar with oriental and western cultures, is at home on the international stage. She conveys her wide-ranging repertoire in the standard and tradition of the great musical masterminds from Artur Schnabel to Wilhelm Kempff , with whom she is regularly compared.

Since graduating with honors, Shani Diluka has followed current musical developments with great interest and has interpreted works by famous contemporary composers such as Kurtág , Rihm and Bruno Mantovani , of whom she also premiered a work. But it is also due to the very young audience, for whom she recorded a Chopin CD (with accompanying book) on behalf of the French children's and youth book publisher Editions Didier Heunesse Hachette , as well as the Histoire de Babar, le petit Elephant by the French composer Francis Poulenc , with Natalie Dessay as speaker.
