Bruno Mantovani (born October 8, 1974 in Châtillon ) is a French composer . Since August 2010 he has been director of the Paris Conservatoire .

Life

Mantovani studied piano, drums and jazz at the Conservatory in Perpignan and from 1993 attended the Conservatoire de Paris , which he graduated with five first prizes. He then studied musicology with Guy Reibel at the University of Rouen and took courses in computer science and instrumentation at IRCAM from 1998 to 1999 .

Mantovani worked with the ensembles TM + , Alternance and, since 2001, the Ensemble InterContemporain , for which he also wrote compositions. For Concerto pour violon and Turbulences he received first prize in the Stuttgart composition competition in 1999, and for D'un rêve parti in 2001 the Gaudeamus in Amsterdam. In 1997 he received a composition scholarship from the Académie des Beaux-Arts , in 1999 a scholarship from the Nadia et Lili Boulanger Foundation and in 2000 the Prix ​​Hervé Dugardin from SACAM . In 2007 Mantovani was awarded the Belmont Prize for Contemporary Music, in 2009 with the title Compositeur de l'année (Composer of the Year), and in 2010 with the International Music Press Prize. Also in 2010 he was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres .
