Carsten Heinze (pedagogue)

Carsten Heinze (born November 7, 1969 in Leipzig ) is a German educator and university teacher .

Live and act

Carsten Heinze studied music and history at the University of Leipzig from 1990 to 1996 for a higher teaching post at grammar schools . He then worked at the University of Leipzig with a doctoral scholarship from the Free State of Saxony on his dissertation on pedagogy in the era of National Socialism . In 2001 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD .

In 2001 he became a research associate and in 2002 a research assistant at the Chair of Education at the University of Augsburg . In 2006 he became an academic councilor . In 2009 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the role of textbooks in the innovation process .

In 2010 he held a substitute professorship for general educational science at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education . In 2011 he was appointed professor of general educational science. From 2011 to 2012 he was head of the department for general education and from 2011 to 2013 head of the institute for educational science. From 2013 to 2016 he was Dean of Studies of Faculty I and from 2016 to 2018 Vice Rector for Research, Development and International Relations.

Carsten Heinze is a member of the German Society for Educational Science and works there in the sections "Historical Educational Research" and "General Educational Science". From 2001 to 2011 he was a member of the board of the International Society for Historical and Systematic Research on Textbooks and Educational Media. He is also a member of the International Standing Conference for the History of Education, the International Herbartianism Working Group and the Theodor Litt Society for the Research and Maintenance of Humanities Education.
