GFA TV

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

GFA TV was a Ghanaian television broadcaster based in Accra . It was owned by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghanaian football association, and from 2013 transferred a thematic program focused on Ghanaian football . Initially, the station belonged to the Modern Times Group , which, however, sold its entire Africa business to Econet Wireless based in South Africa in 2016 .

history

After the operators of the station received a license from the National Communications Authority , the first broadcast took place on August 27, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the Alisa Hotel in the Ghanaian capital Accra. This made the Ghanaian Football Association the first football association in Africa to operate its own television channel. In addition to reports on the Ghanaian national team , the Ghana Premier League and the Ghanaian soccer cup, the program also included reports and news about the teams in the Ghana Football Leagues and the other divisions. Other larger segments were interviews with players and managers, as well as the transmission of match reports and highlights from various games. The broadcaster also gave a look behind the scenes of all the national soccer teams of the Ghana Football Association. Weekly reports from the station were also broadcast on GTV , the main Ghanaian television broadcaster. Since the dissolution of the association in June 2018 at the latest, GFA TV has also ceased broadcasting.
