Ghana Television

Ghana Television is a Ghanaian broadcaster operated by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation . Since its first broadcast on July 31, 1965, it has broadcast mainly (80% of the programs broadcast) Ghanaian own productions.

Ghana Television broadcasts exclusively via satellite (NSS 7 (11635 V)) and transmits one hour per day from CNN International , Deutsche Welle and Worldnet . GTV's director is Kofi Bucknor.

As early as November 6, 1959, the government of Ghana ordered the establishment of a separate television station for the entire country. A technical support contract was signed with Canada in 1961 and a television production training facility was established in Accra in 1963 under the supervision of two representatives from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation . On July 31, 1963, the then President of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah opened the television age in Ghana. In 1965, Ghana Television broadcast around 17.5 hours a week; today it is 140 hours a week.
