The third council of Constantinople (the sixth ecumenical council ) took place from 680 to 681 . It dealt with monotheletism . Among other things, the anathema was posthumously imposed on Pope Honorius I because of his compliant attitude towards the monotheletes .
According to the interpretation of the Orthodox , the Trullan Synod in 691 at the same place was a continuation of the third Council of Constantinople.
