Georgios of Constantinople

Georgios was Patriarch of Constantinople (679–686). He is venerated as a saint in the Orthodox Church . Remembrance day is August 18th .

Life

Georgios was Synkellos in the Patriarchate of Constantinople and Skeuophylax at Hagia Sophia. In November or December 679 he became a patriarch. During this time the Third Council of Constantinople took place. a. ended the controversies over monotheleticism .

Georgios served until January or February 686.
