Siegrun Siegl (born October 29, 1954 in Apolda as Tohn ) is a former German athlete who - starting for the GDR - became Olympic champion in the pentathlon in 1976 .

At the European Championships in 1974 she was fourth in the pentathlon (4584 points). In May 1976 she set a world record in the long jump with 6.99 meters . At the Olympic Games in Montreal she finished fourth in the long jump, but in the pentathlon she won the gold medal. With 4745 points, she achieved the same final result as her teammate Christine Laser , but won with the number of better individual placements in accordance with IAAF regulations. After an injury break, Siegl switched entirely from pentathlon to long jump. She became European indoor champion in 1979 (6.70 m) and fifth at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow .

In 1975 she was GDR champion in the pentathlon, 1979 with the 4 x 100 meter relay and 1980 in the long jump.

Siegrun Siegl started for the SC Turbine Erfurt and trained with Siegfried Meißner . During her competition time she was 1.75 m tall and weighed 58 kg. In 1976 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver for her Olympic victory in Montreal .

After her sports career, she studied sports science in Leipzig and became a sports teacher at a vocational school in Erfurt . After the end of the GDR, she opened a photo shop in Erfurt.
