Lidija Nikolajewna Alfejewa

Lidija Nikolajewna Alfejewa ( Russian Лидия Николаевна Алфеева , English transcription Lidiya Alfeyeva ; born January 17, 1946 in Dnepropetrovsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Soviet long jumper .

Career

Alfejewa was from 1974 to 1976 three times in a row Soviet champion in the long jump. In 1975 and 1976 she also secured the title at the Soviet indoor championships. Internationally she first appeared at the European Athletics Championships in Rome in 1974 , where she took sixth place with a width of 6.54 m. The winner Ilona Bruzsenyák from Hungary was 11 cm short .

After Alfejewa was at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1975 in Katowice with 6.29 m second behind the Romanian Dorina Cătineanu (6.31 m), she secured the title in 1976 at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Munich with 6.64 m. In the same year she celebrated the most important success of her career at the Olympic Games in Montreal . With a width of 6.60 m she won the bronze medal behind the East German Angela Voigt (6.72 m) and the US American Kathy McMillan (6.66 m). At the 1980 Olympic Games she was only eighth with 6.71 m, while the medalists all exceeded the 7-meter mark.

Lidija Alfejewa is 1.70 m tall, weighed 62 kg when she was active and started for CSKA Moscow .
