Darja Igorewna Klischina ( Russian Да́рья И́горевна Кли́шина , English transcription Darya Igorevna Klishina ; born January 15, 1991 in Tver , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian long jumper .

Life

In 2007, Klischina became World Youth Champion in Ostrava in the long jump. At the 2009 Junior European Championships in Novi Sad, she won the gold medal. In 2010 she finished fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha . In the same year she increased her personal best to 7.03 m and thus achieved a Russian junior record. She missed the junior world record of the German Heike Drechsler by eleven centimeters. In the IAAF Diamond League she celebrated victories at the DN Galan in Stockholm and at the London Grand Prix and came second in the overall standings behind the US World Champion Brittney Reese .

At the European Indoor Championships in Paris in 2011 , Klischina won the gold medal in front of the Portuguese Naide Gomes and her compatriot Julija Pidluschnaja . In the free running season she celebrated another victory at the U23 European Championships in Ostrava and increased her personal best to 7.05 m. At the World Championships in Daegu , on the other hand, she remained below her possibilities and only finished seventh with 6.5 m.

At the World Indoor Athletics Championships 2012 in Istanbul, Klischina took fourth place. As fourth of the Russian championships, however, surprisingly missed participation in the Olympic Games in London .

At the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 2013 , she successfully defended her title with a width of 7.01 m. She won another gold medal at the Universiade in Kazan, before she was only seventh at the world championships in her own country with a width of 6.76 m.

She won the bronze medal when she took part in an open-air European championship in 2014 in Zurich.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she was the only Russian athlete. In 2017 she achieved fourth place with 6.84 m in the final at the European Indoor Athletics Championships . She started under a neutral flag.

At the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London, she won the silver medal with a width of 7.00 meters. Again she had to admit defeat to Brittney Reese (7.02 meters).

Klischina skipped the 2018 season, switched to Dwight Phillips and wants to compete again in spring 2019, she is not planning an indoor season.
