Berit Berthelsen
Berit Berthelsen Berit Tøien (born April 25, 1944 in Nittedal ) is a former Norwegian athlete. She started for the clubs Hakadal IL and IL Tyrving .
Berthelsen won five gold medals during the Nordic Championships in 1965 (100 m, 200 m, 400 m, long jump and relay race). She won the European Indoor Championships in long jump in 1967 and 1968 and won bronze in Athens in 1969. Berthelsen has set 33 Norwegian records. The long jump record of 1968 over 6.56 m was only exceeded in August 2009 by Margrethe Renstrøm with 6.64 m.
Berit Berthelsen won the King's Cup four times: 1963, 1964, 1966 and 1968. She won 35 Norwegian championship titles: five in the 100 meter distance, nine in 200 m, four in 400 m, one in 100 m hurdles, eleven in the long jump and four in cross-country. In 1967 she was honored with the Morgenbladet gold medal.
She was married to the Norwegian long jumper Roar Berthelsen . In 1968 she was the Norwegian flag bearer at the Summer Olympics in Mexico.
