At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , Ouaziz started over 5000 m, but missed the finals. It wasn't until 1998 that she was able to celebrate another major success. At the Cross Country World Championships in Marrakech , she won the silver medal on the short distance and thus led Morocco to an extremely narrow victory in the team championship. At the African Championships in Dakar that year , she won the gold medal with a time of 8: 53.75 minutes and almost twenty seconds ahead of the first pursuers. Also in 1998 she set an African record in 14: 32.08 m in the 5000 meter run .

The 1999 season began for Ouaziz by winning the silver medal over 3000 m at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi . A few months later, she celebrated the greatest success of her career with second place in the 5000-meter run at the World Athletics Championships in Seville . With a time of 14: 43.15 minutes she only had to admit defeat to defending champion Gabriela Szabo . Shortly before that, Oaziz had set another African record with 8: 26.48 min over 3000 m.

Ouaziz achieved her last significant success at the 2000 World Cross Country Championships in Vilamoura when she again took the silver medal on the short distance. Then she managed a fourth place over 3000 m at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2003 in Birmingham . When she participated in the World Athletics Championships in Paris in 2003 and in the World Cross Country Championships in 2003 and 2004, she was no longer able to place in the top ten. Due to persistent injury problems, she ended her active career in 2004 and took on a position as a junior coach.
