Do Vaszi

Tünde Vaszi [ ˈtyndɛ ˈvɒsi ] (born April 18, 1972 in Pișcolt , Romania ) is a former Hungarian long jumper .

It has reached almost every grand finale since the mid-1990s. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta she was ninth as well as at the 1997 World Indoor Championships in Paris.

This was followed by a fourth place at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest, a fifth at the 1999 World Indoor Championships in Maebashi and an eighth at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. At the World Championships in Athens in 1997 and Seville in 1999 , she was eliminated in qualification.

In 2001 she came fourth with her personal best of 6.86 meters at the World Championships in Edmonton and missed the bronze medal by just two centimeters compared to Niurka Montalvo (ESP).

The following year, she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Munich with 6.73 m, with the same distance as Jade Johnson (GBR), who placed second .

At the 2003 World Championships in Paris-Saint-Denis she was sixth, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens eighth, at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki tenth and ninth at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg.

In recent years she has also tried pole vaulting . Her best performance in this discipline is 4.25 m (June 25, 2006, Budapest ).

Tünde Vaszi is 1.72 meters tall and weighs 58 kg. In 2003 she was voted Hungarian Athlete of the Year . She ended her career in early 2009.
