archeology
On the territory of the municipality there is a large grave field dating from the Latène period , which was excavated between 1970 and 1977 by Ioan Nemeti from the Carei Museum . It contained 75 body graves, 83 campfire graves and 13 urn burials as well as 14 graves that were so disturbed that the type of burial must remain open. The burial ground was occupied by LtB1b to LtC1. In the first phase of the burial ground, Rustiou sees burials in the local Szentes- Vekerzug tradition as well as graves that show a Central European influence. He evaluates this as evidence of an “overlay” of the local population by immigrating Celts .
