Juliet Campbell (born March 17, 1970 in Kingston ) is a former Jamaican athlete . The versatile sprinter appeared individually, especially in the 200-meter run , but also regularly reinforced the 4-by-100-meter and 4-by-400-meter relays in Jamaica at international championships .
Her first international appearance for Jamaica was at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . With the 4-by-400-meter relay, she finished fifth, in the 400-meter run she reached the quarter-finals. In both competitions, she started at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart . With the relay she was fourth, over 400 meters seventh. However, she achieved the best result with the 4 x 100 meter relay. Together with Michelle Freeman , Nikole Mitchell and Merlene Ottey , she won the bronze medal behind the teams from Russia and the United States in 41.94 s .
At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , Campbell just barely missed a medal again with the 4 x 400 meter relay in fourth place. In the 400-meter run, she advanced to the semi-finals. She also reached the semi-finals in the 200-meter run at the 1997 World Championships in Athens . She won her first international individual medal a year later at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur . Over 200 m she finished second behind Nova Peris-Kneebone in 22.79 seconds . With the 4 x 100 meter relay, Campbell won another silver medal.
In 1999 she took fifth place over 200 m at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi and eighth place at the World Championships in Seville . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she failed over the same distance in the quarter-finals. She was much more successful at the 2001 World Indoor Championships in Lisbon . There she managed to win the title in the 200-meter run in 22.64 s. In the 4-by-400-meter relay, she won the silver medal together with Charmaine Howell , Catherine Scott and Sandie Richards .
At the Commonwealth Games 2002 she was second over 200 m in 22.54 s behind Debbie Ferguson . Over the same distance, she won her last international medal at the 2003 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham . There she was ranked third behind Muriel Hurtis and Anastassija Kapatschinskaja in 22.81 s , after the original winner Michelle Collins was subsequently disqualified for doping .
Juliet Campbell is 1.76 m tall and had a competition weight of 62 kg.
