Ren Blom
Rens Blom (born March 1, 1977 in Munstergeleen ) is a former Dutch athlete who became world champion in pole vault with 5.80 m in 2005 .
He had his first success on the international stage at the European Indoor Championships in 2000, when he won the bronze medal with a height of 5.60 m. He was also third at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2003 in Birmingham (5.75 m). At the 2004 Olympics , he finished ninth after having been eliminated from qualifying four years earlier.
He achieved his personal best with 5.81 m (Dutch record) on June 8, 2004 in Saragossa . After numerous injuries, Blom announced in September 2008 that he was ending his sporting career. Rens Blom had a competition weight of 75 kg with a height of 1.78 m.
Rens Blom is a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau .
