Maria Tsirba

María Tsírba ( Greek Μαρία Τσίρμπα , born July 28, 1979 ) is a Greek medium and long-distance runner .

In 2000 and 2002 she was national champion over 1500 m outdoors, in 2002 indoors.

At the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 , she was eliminated over 1500 m in the preliminary run. The following year she ran at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham over 3000 m in eighth place, he was tested positive for ephedrine and disqualified in the subsequent doping control . In addition, erythropoietin (EPO) was detected in a sample taken shortly before during training . She was banned for two years because of these doping rule violations .
