Peania is a municipality in the eastern part of the Attica region . It is located east of Athens at the foot of the Hymetto . It consists of the two urban districts Glyka Nera and Peania, which were independent municipalities until they were unified in 2011.

In addition to the Vorres Museum, this is where the Mega TV studios and the headquarters of the pharmaceutical company Lavipharm are located .

In ancient times the area was known as Paiania .
