Staffan Strand ( Staffan Bo Strand ; born April 18, 1976 in Upplands Väsby ) is a former Swedish high jumper .

Strand won the U23 European Championships in 1997 with 2.28 meters in front of the German Martin Buss . In 1998 he was eighth at the European Championships in Budapest with 2.27 meters . At the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi in 1999 , he placed with 2.25 meters on rank 5. At the World Championships in Seville , he jumped 2.29 and was again fifth.

In Sydney at the 2000 Olympic Games , only Olympic champion Sergei Kljugin jumped 2.35 meters. Six other jumpers had crossed 2.32 meters and were sorted according to the failed attempt rule. Staffan Strand found itself in 6th place. At the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon in 2001 he won the bronze medal with 2.29 meters behind his compatriot Stefan Holm and the Ukrainian Andrij Sokolowskyj . With 2.25 meters he was seventh at the World Championships in Edmonton in the summer of 2001 .

At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002, Strand jumped 2.34 meters and won gold from Stefan Holm. At the European Championships in Munich , Strand took bronze with 2.27 m behind the Russian Jaroslaw Rybakow (2.31 m) and Stefan Holm (2.29 m).

At 2.25 meters, Strand finished seventh at the 2003 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, Strand placed 18th.

Strand was Swedish champion in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Its best height is 2.35 meters in the hall and 2.32 meters outside. After the Swedish Club Championships in 2008, Staffan Strand announced the end of his career on his website on July 4th.

The 1.88 m tall and 75 kg competitive beach studied at the University of Minnesota , where he did a Ph. D. in Computer Engineering .
