Andrij Sokolowskyj

Andrij Sokolovskyj ( Ukrainian Андрій Соколовський , English transcription Andriy Sokolovskyy , also Andriy Sokolovskiy ; born July 16, 1978 in Moscow ) is a Ukrainian high jumper .

In 1999 he was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi , but retired at the World Championships in Seville as well as in the qualification at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

A silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in 2001 in Lisbon was followed in the same year again in qualifying at the World Championships in Edmonton . In 2003 he was eighth at both the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was fifth. The following year, on July 8th in Rome , he achieved his personal record with 2.38 m and at the same time the world's best performance for the year, but only came 13th at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. In 2006, his indoor best performance of 2.36 m, set up on February 14th in Banská Bystrica , was followed by a sixth place at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow . At the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , he failed in qualifying.
