The 19th indoor athletics world championships are to take place from March 11th to 13th, 2022 in the Serbian capital Belgrade . The Serbian metropolis was selected on November 22, 2019 at the meeting of the World Athletics Council in Monte Carlo . On November 26, 2017, Belgrade, along with Toruń , lost the bid for the World Indoor Athletics Championships 2020 against the Chinese Nanjing . Belgrade was u. a. Venue of the European Athletics Championships 1962 , the 2013 European Cross Country Championships and the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships . As in 2017, the competitions are to be held in the Štark Arena (18,386 seats at sporting events).
