Dennis Zimmermann

Dennis Zimmermann (born May 5, 1981 ) is a former German American football player.

career

Zimmermann played American football with the Berlin Adlers from 1994 , and later played for the Berlin Bears . In 1998 he became European Junior Champion with the German selection. Thanks to a grant from a youth development program of the NFL , he played in 1998/1999 for the team at a school in Baltimore ( United States ). After moving to the men's division, the 1.82-meter-tall quarterback won the German championship title with the Berlin Adlers in 2004. For the game year 2005 he went to the Braunschweig Lions, with whom Zimmermann won other German championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008). In 2007 he was named the best player in the final of the German championship. With the German national team, Zimmermann won bronze at the 2007 World Cup. In 2010 he became European champion with the German selection. After a seemingly easy pass from Zimmermann was intercepted in a game against the Stuttgart Scorpions at the end of July 2011, he was substituted at halftime and abruptly ended his football career. It was later discovered that he was suffering from depression .

Zimmermann worked professionally as a fitness trainer. The trained sports and fitness salesman already worked in this area during his football career, and in 2016 he completed further training as a specialist sports teacher for fitness and health.
