Deji Aliu (born November 22, 1975 in Lagos ) is a Nigerian sprinter .
He achieved his first international successes in 1994 as the African junior champion in the 100-meter run and in the 200-meter run . At the Junior World Championships in Athletics in Lisbon , he won gold over 100 m and silver over 200 m.
At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville , he finished third in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with Innocent Asonze , Francis Obikwelu and Daniel Effiong . However, the season later lost the bronze medal after Innocent Asonze doping was detected.
At the 2003 African Games in Abuja , he won the gold medal over 100 m in a personal best of 9.95 seconds ahead of his compatriot Uchenna Emedolu . In the same year he finished fifth in the 100-meter run at the World Championships in Paris .
He celebrated the greatest success of his career at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . As the final runner in the 4 x 100 meter relay, he won the bronze medal in 38.23 s together with Olusoji Fasuba , Uchenna Emedolu and Aaron Egbele .
He was also twice Nigerian national champion over 100 m (2002 and 2003).
Deji Aliu is 1.85 m tall and has a competition weight of 75 kg. His brother Musa Deji is also a track and field athlete.
