Galina Evgenyevna Bogomolova

Galina Evgenjewna Bogomolowa ( Russian Галина Евгеньевна Богомолова ; English transcription Galina Bogomolova ; born October 15, 1977 in Belorezk ) is a Russian long-distance runner .

She is the four-time Russian champion in the 10,000-meter run (2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006). In Paris she was sixth over this distance at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in her personal best of 30: 26.20 min, eighth at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki and fourth at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg .

In 2005 she finished fourth at the Edmonton Half Marathon World Championship . The year 2006 brought her breakthrough in the marathon distance : in the London Marathon she was fifth in 2:21:58 h, in the Chicago Marathon she achieved a Russian record in 2:20:47 h in second.

In 2008, Galina Bogomolowa ran the fastest time ever for a woman on Italian soil with 2:22:53 h in the Rome marathon .
