Gert-Jan Liefers (actually: Gerrit-Jan Liefers ; born September 26, 1978 in Apeldoorn ) is a Dutch medium and long-distance runner .

At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville, he was eliminated over 1500 m in the preliminary run, and at the 2000 World Cross Country Championships he came in 41st place on the short distance.

The following year he was ninth over 1500 m at the World Championships in Edmonton , and in 2003 he was sixth over 3000 m at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and seventh over 1500 m at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

In 2004 he was again sixth over 3000 m at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest and eighth over 1500 m at the Olympic Games in Athens . At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , he was eighth over 5000 m .

So far he has been five times Dutch champion over 1500 m (1996-1999, 2004), once over 5000 m (2006) and four times in cross-country running on the short distance (2001, 2003, 2004, 2008). In the hall he won the national title once over 1500 m (1998) and twice over 3000 m (1996, 2004).

Gert-Jan Liefers is 1.87 m tall and weighs 74 kg. He starts for the AV 34 Apeldoorn.
