Rafał Wieruszewski (born February 24, 1981 in Środa Wielkopolska ) is a Polish sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run.

At the athletics junior world championships in Santiago de Chile in 2000 , he finished eighth over 400 m and took third place with the 4 x 400 meter relay . In 2001 he won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run at the U23 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam . In the same year he was at the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton with the season fourth. Due to the subsequent disqualification of the initially victorious US team because of a doping offense by their runner Antonio Pettigrew, the Polish quartet around Rafał Wieruszewski, Piotr Haczek , Piotr Długosielski and Piotr Rysiukiewicz moved up to bronze.

In 2003 Wieruszewski became Polish champion over 400 m both indoors and outdoors and came third at the Universiade in Daegu . At the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham in the same year he reached fourth place with the relay. Also in the 4 x 400 meter relay, he won the gold medal at the Universiade 2005 in İzmir .

At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Moscow in 2006 , he won the silver medal behind the US team in the relay together with Daniel Dąbrowski , Marcin Marciniszyn and Piotr Klimczak . A few months later, Wieruszewski celebrated his next success in the relay at the European Championships in Gothenburg when he won the bronze medal together with Daniel Dąbrowski, Piotr Kędzia and Piotr Rysiukiewicz. He also started the 400-meter run in Gothenburg and finished seventh.

Wieruszewski was a member of the Polish 4-by-400-meter relay, which won the bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka in 2007 , but was only used in the preliminary round. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he was seventh with the season. At the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin , he was only used in the qualifying round of the Polish relay team, which ended up fifth.

Rafał Wieruszewski is 1.81 m tall and has a competition weight of 63 kg.
