Lacena Golding-Clarke

Lacena Golding-Clarke (born Golding ; born March 20, 1975 ) is a former Jamaican hurdler who specialized in the 100 meter distance .

Life

She began her career as a long jumper , winning bronze at the 1998 Central American and Caribbean Games and gold at the 1999 Central American and Caribbean Games in this discipline. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney, and at the World Championships in Athens in 1997 and 1999 in Seville eliminated them in qualification.

After marrying the sprinter Davian Clarke , she switched to the hurdles race, which she had practiced sporadically until then, and was eighth over 60 meter hurdles at the 2001 World Indoor Championships in Lisbon. The following year she won the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

In 2003 she was fourth in the 60 meter hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , won bronze at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo and was eighth at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . In 2004 she was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest , fifth at the Olympic Games in Athens and third at the World Athletics Finals .

Another sixth place at the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow was followed by fourth place at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne that same year . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, she reached the semi-finals and at the 2008 World Indoor Championships in Valencia she was fourth.

After reaching the finals for the sixth time in a row at the 2010 World Indoor Championships and finishing seventh, she ended her sporting career.

Lacena Golding-Clarke is 1.68 m tall and weighed 61 kg during her playing days. In 1998 she graduated from Auburn University .
