She had her international breakthrough at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . She won the bronze medal. In 2001 she was first indoor world champion and in the summer at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton she won the bronze medal, as in Sydney. In 2004 she was injured and had to forego the participation in the Olympic Games in Athens , but was then able to win the coveted title at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005. This was the long overdue coronation of the best high jumper in the last five years. For this achievement she was honored with the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal.
Her personal best outdoors is 2.06 m, achieved on July 26, 2003 at the international high jump meeting in Eberstadt . On February 4, 2006, she jumped 2.08 m at the 30th high jump with music in Arnstadt . So she has replaced Heike Henkel , who received the award for her life's work at this meeting, as the indoor world record holder.
