Magdelín Martínez Castillo (born February 10, 1976 in Camagüey ) is a former Italian triple jumper of Cuban origin.
Initially starting for Cuba, she won the bronze medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg with a width of 13.98 m. In the same year she married the Italian Giuseppe Piccotti.
At the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton, she already started for Italy. She had only received Italian citizenship on August 4th, just six days before the triple jump competition took place, in which she finished fourth with 14.52 m.
After finishing sixth at the 2002 European Championships in Munich and fifth at the 2003 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, she celebrated the greatest success of her career at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis. She won the bronze medal and improved the Italian national record in the meantime to 14.90 m.
In 2004 she was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest and seventh at the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2005 she won the silver medal at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid with a width of 14.54 m. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , she finished eighth. After she could not move into the finals at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, she was sixth at the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she failed to qualify.
She was also Italian triple jump champion six times, twice outdoors (2002, 2007) and four times indoors (2003, 2005, 2008–2009). With a width of 15.03 m, it holds the national record in this discipline.
Magdelín Martínez had a competition weight of 63 kg with a height of 1.78 m. She played her last international competitions in the 2010 season. After finishing her active career, she became a mother for the first time in August 2011 with her son Alessandro.
