Liliana Bărbulescu , divorced Popescu , (born February 5, 1982 ) is a Romanian middle-distance runner .

Bărbulescu competed in the middle distance and celebrated her first success at the 1st Youth World Championships in 1999 in Bydgoszcz , Poland , where she reached fifth place over 800 meters. A year later, she started at the Junior World Championships in Santiago de Chile in the 4 x 400 meter relay and won the bronze medal. At the 2003 Summer Universiade in Daegu , she won gold over 800 meters. A year later she started at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Budapest in 2004 , where she was eliminated in fourth place in the semifinals. At the European Athletics Championships in 2006 in Gothenburg , she reached seventh place in the semifinals. Also at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2007 , she was eliminated in the semifinals. At the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka , she also did not get past the semi-finals. After she had reached sixth place over 800 meters at the World Indoor Athletics Championships and won the Super Grand Prix in Doha , EPO was found in a doping test at Bărbulescu . She was then first excluded from the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and shortly thereafter suspended for two years and all results deleted from May 29, 2008, including the result of the World Indoor Championships and the Super Grand Prix. The doping ban expired on May 28, 2010.
