Amy Acuff (born July 14, 1975 in Port Arthur , Texas ) is an American high jumper .

Life

At the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 she was eighth, but failed at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 1997 World Cup in Athens in qualification.

In 1997 she won gold at the Universiade and ninth at the World Cup in Seville . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney again meant the end of qualification, and at the World Championships in Edmonton she was tenth.

At the Golden League meeting in Zurich in 2003 , she set her personal record with 2.01 meters. This was followed by a ninth place at the World Cup in Paris / Saint-Denis , a fourth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, an eighth place at the 2005 World Cup in Helsinki and a twelfth place at the 2007 World Cup .

So far she has been US champion six times outdoors (1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007) and four times indoors (2001, 2004, 2007, 2008).

Amy Acuff has a competition weight of 66 kg with a height of 1.88 m. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in biology and is known for her activities as a model , which brought her to the covers of Esquire and Playboy , among others . The granddaughter of country singer and producer Roy Acuff is a licensed acupuncturist and has been married to pole vaulter Tye Harvey since 2004.
