Yusuf Saad Kamel (birth name Gregory Konchellah ; born March 29, 1983 in Narok , Rift Valley Province ) is a Bahraini middle-distance runner of Kenyan origin.

The son of Billy Konchellah , the two-time world champion in the 800-meter race , changed citizenship in November 2003 and has been racing for Bahrain ever since. In 2004 he started over 800 m at the Olympic Games in Athens , but was eliminated in the preliminary run. A short time later he was able to record a respectable success by winning the World Athletics Finals in Monaco .

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he reached the semi-finals in the 800-meter run. In 2006 he won the World Athletics Cup in Athens, and in 2007 the World Athletics Final in Stuttgart .

In 2008 he won his first international medal at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia when he finished third in the 800 m personal indoor best performance of 1: 45.26 minutes. At the Olympic Games in Beijing that year he was fifth.

However, he celebrated the greatest success of his career so far in the 1500 meter run . At the World Athletics Championships in 2009 he won the gold medal over this distance. In the rather slow race he was able to show off his sprint strength at the end and relegated Deresse Mekonnen and Bernard Lagat to their places in 3: 35.93 min . Four days later, Kamel took the bronze medal in the 800 meter run with 1: 45.35 minutes behind Mbulaeni Mulaudzi and Alfred Kirwa Yego .

Yusuf Saad Kamel is 1.84 m tall and weighs 70 kg. He trains in Switzerland with Tariq Sabt, the husband and trainer of Maryam Yusuf Jamal . He runs a wheat farm in his home village.
